Obituary of Sherry Kay Black
Please share a memory of Sherry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sherry was born to George and Evelyn Swain (Fones) on June 15, 1950 in St. Louis Missouri. Sherry’s three older brothers George, Dave, and Ron welcomed her with open arms as they learned they now had a baby sister. In third grade Sherry would meet a fellow classmate, Terri Bragado, and they would bond for a lifetime. Terri became Sherry’s “sister” and they were as close as any two sisters could be.
In the early 70s Sherry moved to Southern California where she met her future husband Dick Black. They married on March 8, 1975 and their son Timothy Douglas was born October 17, 1978. In December 1980 they moved to St. Louis to be near Sherry’s family and enjoy the St. Louis weather.
Sherry taught us faith in God when the path ahead was unclear, she taught us to carry on through difficult times with both patience and endurance. She taught us to show compassion, forgiveness, and understanding when it’s hard to do so. Sherry taught us loyalty, dedication, and commitment. She showed us what it’s like to be honest and keep your word.
Sherry was preceded in death by her brother George (Roberta).
She is survived by her brother Dave (Shirley), her brother Ron (Mary), her son Timothy (Samantha), and her grandchildren Lily, Joseph, and Jonathan. Sherry was eagerly awaiting the birth of her fourth grandchild who is yet unnamed and due in the near future.
Sherry served as a marvelous example to us all and will be missed greatly.
