On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, Melvin H. McCoy (Chip) passed away at age 57 after an extended illness. He was married to Carla Reinhardt McCoy of St. Peter's and was the father of Taylor McCoy from a previous marriage. Chip was born on February 8, 1963 in St. Charles, Missouri to Melvin and Joyce (Tuttle) McCoy. He graduated from Ft. Zumwalt North High School in 1981.
Chip, who was the last born in a family of ten brothers and sisters, had a deep love for his extended family. He grew up in St. Peters, playing little league baseball. In his adult life he had a strong passion for fishing, the St. Louis Blues and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Chip was preceded in death by his father, Melvin and his mother, Joyce, a brother, Floyd R. L. and step daughter Jamie Lea Reinhardt.
He is survived by his wife Carla and son Taylor, step children Ryan, Josh, Rachael and Emily, step grandchildren: Jackson, Camden, Scarlett, Kenna and Evelyn, his brothers and sisters Tim, Terry Holloway, Gary, Cheri Hlavaty, Connie Broidy, Ricky, Cindy Smith, Scott, Vicki Kiefer and father in law Carl Reinhardt Jr.
Chip also leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
