I went to high school with Bob. I often thought about Bob as I passed Flamingo on the way to my mom’s house. Bob was a part of our group that went 4-wheeling and camping back in the day. If my memory serves me correctly, he drove a brown, Ford F-250, longbed truck that was jacked up with a lift kit and oversized tires...good memories.
Another memory that jumps out at me was when Bob used to host a BBQ at his folks’ house in IL each year. His plan was to smoke a pig. During the smoking process overnight, Bob and a friend (can’t remember who) fell asleep and woke up to a completely charred hunk of meat...this was back in the days when the grocery stores weren’t open on Sundays, so he drove around all morning buying up the packs of hotdogs at gas station convenience markets. Of course, the party went on without any further hitches. I haven’t seen him for probably more than 30 years, but I will remember the good times we had! Kevin Kertz
