Obituary of Tommy Calvin Hopson

Tommy Calvin Hopson was born on August 22, 1943 in Kemper County, Mississippi, to Alice Hopson and J.B. Bonner.
Tommy was raised by his Grandparents, Namon and Lula Hopson and affectionately known as Baby Boy. His Parents, Grandparents, one Brother, Willie Lee Jones, and two sons Melvin (Wayne) and Terrence preceded him in death.
Tommy attended the Porterville School District in Kemper County, Mississippi. Tommy was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Nell Walker on January 2, 1965, to this union five children were born. Tommy and Nell relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri to reunite with his Mother and Stepfather to complete Johnnie and Alice’s family of eight children.
Tommy was employed at Washington University as a sanitation engineer until a disabling accident ended his career.
Tommy enjoyed fishing and hunting and did so often with his many uncles and cousins that he grew up with in Mississippi.
Tommy dedicated his life to Christ. He would pickup donated food, other non-perishable items, and deliver them around the city to needy people and families. He resided in Beauvais On The Park nursing facility, and could often be found helping his fellow residents. He was a D
eacon at True Grace Baptist Church under the pastoral care of Reverend Joel K. Davis and later Reverend Johnathan K. Davis.
Tommy departed this life on October 7, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mary Nell of Meridian, Mississippi; one son, Stevie of Meridian, Mississippi; two daughters, Sheila of Chicago, Illinois and Katina (Johann) Tabb of Coralville, Iowa; four brothers, Johnnie Jones Jr (Lois). Bobby Jones, Sylvester Jones (Kathryn), and Walter Jones (Darlene) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two sisters, Dorothy (Melvin) Perry and Celeste (Edward) Graves; and eight Grandchildren, Edward. Mahogany, Myles, Stevie, Reanne, Cordaryl, Laron, and Jasmine; five great grandchildren and a host of cousins and lifelong friends.
