Obituary of Willie Lou Brooks

Willie Lou Brooks (Hernton), 60, rose on July 17, 1960, and passed away on February 12, 2021. She was born to Eddie Lee Hernton And Willie Lee Turner of St. Louis, Missouri. She was the youngest of five children. Willie Lou graduated from Normandy High school and worked in healthcare fulfilling her passion, caring for people. She professed her salvation in her 20’s and loved serving in her parent's church. She was anointed with a voice for song, loved music, and even traveled singing with her childhood friends. In addition, she loved traveling with her brothers and closest friends. Willie Lou married Michael Watson of Washington Park, Illinois, they shared four daughters. Willie Lou married Stanley Brooks of St. Louis, Missouri, they shared two daughters and one son. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Willie Hernton, her sister Annie Rene Pittman, her daughter Sharon Watson, and her grandson, Jaleel Jalen Brown. Willie Lou is survived by her six children, Anecia Finch, Tanisha Byrd (Paul Byrd), Saundi Watson, Cathryn Powell (Daris Powell), Jaleesa Williams (John Williams), and Stanley Brooks Jr.; 15 grandchildren, Michael Finch, Nyeesha Byrd, Sabrina Byrd, Robert Smith V, Blake Loukas Smith, Mckenzie Powell, Alexis Powell, Evelyn Powell, Kaydence Powell, Shania Brown, Amira Williams, Jakayla Rempt, Kamara Brooks, and Lavender Brooks; Godson, Milton Jackson AKA Tony; 3 brothers Bennie L. Hernton, David Hernton (Angela Hernton), and Eddie Turner. Her lifelong friends Matthew Billingsley and Michael Hanks, and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
