Mark Anthony Powell aka “Sweetmouth”, was born June 7 th , 1961 to Shirley Jean Powell and John D. Bynum. At an early age, Mark was baptized at Westside Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the choir as well as the usher board. His mother then met Chap Seawood, who then became an integral part of his life. He was educated in the St. Louis Public School System. In 1980, Mark graduated from the Vashon High School. He then matriculated to Forest Park Community College. Tragedy struck Mark at a young age, but he was determined to overcome such misfortune. His disability was never a deterrent in anything that he wanted to do. He always would participate in activities such as basketball, baseball, football, and cork ball. He was an avid sports fan of most of his home teams as well as the LA Lakers. Mark could often be found drawing or collecting sports trading cards along with his brothers. His favorite movies were sometimes displayed in how he chose to dress. He was always color coordinated and treasured his many boxed sets, including The Godfather and Scarface. Mark was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Laura Rose Bynum and Luella Powell, fathers John D. Bynum Jr, and Chap Wade Seawood, his niece Pamela M. Williams and his beloved mother, Shirley Jean Seawood. He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother Vincent Taylor, sisters Bridgette Wright (Melvin), and Pamela Ingram, brothers Jeffery Powell (Beverly), Boris Powell, and David Seawood (Monica) and sister Debora Tabb (Tommy), aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and close friends.
