In Loving Memory of Ricky Lamar Lucius “JR”
Sunrise: December 12, 1983 Sunset: September 21, 2021
Ricky was born on December 12, 1983. He was the first of what would soon be four children, all
boys. Ricky had a childhood that was filled with lots of love and memories. Ricky attended his
school years in St. Louis, while living on the south side of town, north county, and then returning
to the south side.
Ricky loved comedy, music, and drawing. He picked up the art of drawing through genetics. A
few of his uncles were quite skilled in this area. It was just a talent that he was gifted at an early
age. Ricky lived a life that had many ups and downs. Two of his greatest accomplishments in his
short life are his children, a girl (Aleeyah) and a boy, (Ethan). At the time of his passing, they
were ages 12 and 10.
Ricky, “JR” to his family and close family friends, lost his maternal grandmother when he was
just three years old (September 30, 1987). His maternal grandfather departed this life on
Christmas day (December 25, 1999), which made for holidays to never be the same ever again.
His biological father was never involved in his life but he had a stepfather that was in a portion
of his life. There are many uncles, aunts, cousins and more whom shall miss him dearly. There
are also many who preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a mother (Katherine W. Mance), stepfather (Clayton B. Mance),
brothers (Robert A., Damon L. and Daniel L. Lucius), sisters-in-law (Lauren Lucius and Chelsey
Lucius), children (Aleeyah and Ethan Hudson), nephew ( Dawson Lucius), uncles (William
Walker, Steven Walker, Warren Walker, Kelly Walker, Eddie Nash and Herron Boothe), aunts
(Marva Nash, Betty Boothe, Christine Walker, Tanya “Diane” Walker and Rita Walker), along
with a host of other relatives.
Life is Forever, Death Is a Dream
If we did not go to sleep at night
We’d never awaken to see the light.
And the joy of watching a new day break
Or meeting the dawn by some quiet lake,
Would never be ours unless we slept
While God and all His angels kept,
A vigil through this “little death”
That’s over with morning’s breath.
And death, too, is a time of sleeping
For those who died are in God’s keeping.
And there’s a sunrise for each soul,
For life, not death is God’s promised goal.
So trust God’s promise and doubt Him never.
For only through death can man live forever!
