Obituary of Michael Anthony Marvaso

Michael Anthony Marvaso, known to his friends as “Mike” of Overland, Missouri passed away on December 7, 2021 at the age of 85. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, Michael was the son of the late Frank Marvaso and Elvira Marvaso (Tropeano). He attended St. Mark’s School in St. Louis, Missouri where he made many lifelong friends. Michael was a veteran and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Michael was an active parishioner at Saint Jude Catholic Church. He will be well remembered for his countless voluntary hours to his church community. Before retirement, Michael worked as a machinist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 9. He is survived by his son, Michael (John Flack) Marvaso; half-sister, Caterina (Barry) Kibler; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mercy Hospital St. Louis for their thoughtful service and gentle care. A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Jude Catholic Church 2218 N Warson Rd, Overland, MO 63114, date and time TBD. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery will be held in private. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Stages St. Louis, 1023 Chesterfield Parkway East, Chesterfield, MO 63017.
