GREGORY PINKARD was born on December 27, 1961 to the union of Ms. Jean M. Pinkard and Mr. Johnnie McDaniels, Sr. in St. Louis, MO. Greg attended Riddick and Wyman Elementary Schools and Vashon and Roosevelt High Schools, where he excelled in Culinary Arts under the mentorship of Mr. Shortridge. Greg served very briefly in the U.S. Army where he confessed to receive Jesus Christ as his Savior on February 22, 1980. Greg was an excellent cook, an avid gardener, he loved animals and pets, he loved to dress, and to know him was to love him! Greg was very popular, and he made friends everywhere he went!
He was our Greg-Greg, Big Greg, Apple, GP, G, Pink, and mostly Pinkard to those who loved him. Greg loved all types of music, dancing, skating, travelling, and he always called to check on people. Family and friends meant a lot to him. Greg served as Head Cook for The Marriott Company while employed at The Army Records Center located at 9700 Page Boulevard, St. Louis, MO for several years. He held several other positions such as, security personnel, truck driver, vending, and customer service positions. He worked for Roofers Mart for over 17 years, and lastly, he worked for Roofing Supply Group (RSG) until he retired in 2015.
Greg was preceded in death by both of his parents, stepfather, Mr. Joe L. Mitchell, sister, Ms. Pamela McDaniels, and brother, Mr. Domingo M. Mitchell.
GREGORY PINKARD departed this life on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2:15 pm, leaving to cherish his memories are: Mr. Herbert Tucker, III; stepmother, Mrs. Loretta McDaniels; 5 sisters, Stephanie Pinkard, Crystal Idleburg (Derrick), Minnetta McDaniels, Lille Jackson (Barcus), and Michelle Strong-Walker (Randall); 6 brothers, Gene E. Pinkard, Gary Pinkard (Dorothea), Anthony Wilcox (Elba), Gregory Wilcox (Theresa), Johnnie McDaniels, Jr (Syretta), and Andrew Strong (Jessica), all being maternal and paternal siblings, a host of close relatives, friends, an awesome best friend, Mr. Johnathan Lewis, who shared the same birthday as Greg, and last but not least, his little side-kick Zeus! WE LOVE AND MISS YOU GREG!!
