Obituary of Howard R. Welch

Son of Howard John Welch and Wilma Jean nee Hart. Born in and resided in Saint Louis City, Missouri. He passed away at home of natural causes on Ash Wednesday. Howard, Randy, or Pop to his kids and grandkids, enlisted in the Navy at 17. He served for 3 years, 1976-1978 working in the boiler room aboard the U.S.S. Trenton and was Honorably Discharged. Howard retired from a 22-year career as a corrugated machine operator, union member and shop steward. He loved being a Santa Helper and did private and company gatherings to spread Christmas joy. He knew Jesus as his personal Savior and loved God. He volunteered his time at a local Food Bank in Saint Louis City. He never knew a stranger, could make friends with anyone, in every setting, and usually knew something about everything. He loved watching his wrestling each week, was an avid reader and though he loved science fiction he could not use technology. Howard was preceded in death by Father Howard John Welch, Mother Wilma Jean nee Hart, sister Kathy Nixon, and daughter Brandy Lee Welch-Glenn. Howard is survived by his wife of 27 years, Denise Colombo-Welch of Saint Louis, MO, by his son Jesse Welch, sister Linda Gail Hill, stepsons Shane Morris and Levi Morris. He has 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren all of who he loved immensely and brought joy to his life. Howard will be interred at Jefferson Barracks, Saint Louis, Mo and a have Celebration of Life which are not yet scheduled and will be announced when determined.
