Obituary
Obituary of Robert Welch
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert “Bob” Welch was born in St. Louis, MO on October
30,1947 to Mrs. Priscilla and Mr. George Welch. He was the fifth
child born to their union.
Robert was preceded in death by both of his parents, Mr. George
& Mrs. Priscilla Welch and his siblings, Janette E. Tabb (Welch),
Alvin Tabb Cash, Edgar Tabb Cash Jr., David Welch, and
Kenneth Welch.
Robert was raised in St. Louis and attended Saint Louis Public
Schools. He attended Simmons Elementary, Turner Middle, and
graduated from Sumner High School in 1964.
Robert was extremely fond of his family, both by blood and in the
community. During his childhood, Robert was a member of the
dance groups The Four Little Steppers and Alvin Cash and the
Crawlers along with his brothers. For many years, the brothers
traveled out of town together for weekend dance gigs. Entertaining
others was an accomplishment that Robert cherished. Whenever
he spoke of the people he met on the road, and the performances
he gave, that beautiful smile he had would grace his face and story
time would begin for all who would listen.
Robert worked as a painter for many years and later became a
driver for St. Elizabeth’s Adult Daycare Center. Robert worked
for St. Elizabeth’s for 17 years and retired in 2017. Robert
enjoyed driving so much that after retirement, he even became an
Uber driver in his spare time for as long as his health allowed.
You could always find Robert enjoying the peacefulness that life
has to offer.
Robert departed this life on March 15th, 2022, at 11:25 p.m. at
Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Robert leaves to cherish in his memory his children, Lisa Macklin,
Robert Macklin, Katrina Swinson, Rodney Welch Sr., DeAndre
Nabors, and Ahmad Welch; his Brothers Arthur and Howard
Welch; his support system Vivian (Veon), Angela (Lu Lu), Shirley,
and Corliss; his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His loving, peaceful presence has been and will continue to
be missed by all who knew him.
