Obituary of Jace Isaiah Jones

Before Jace entered this world, we found out that he would be born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, meaning he would only have half of his heart functioning. The amazing doctors at Children’s Hospital - St. Louis explained to us he would need three open heart surgeries before the age of three, the first when he was five days old. They also told us he would be a weak, scrawny boy to which we replied, “You don’t know our kids!” Jace proved us right! Jace was the sickest, healthiest kid anyone could have ever met. He was so strong and so brave. He LOVED life! And life loved him back!! He never met someone he didn’t love and who didn’t love him back. He was sweet, loving, silly and oh so stubborn. He loved to play with toys, play sports with his brother and friends and play video games. He loved the Rams (Todd Gurley) and Phoenix Suns (Devin Booker). He loved chips, circus peanuts and really any form of sugar he could get. But above all, Jace loved loved loved hugs. We will miss hearing “huggie?” in his little baby voice. We will miss that little smirk. We will miss that beautiful spirit. We will miss that strong little boy. Jace is survived by his parents James and Stephanie (Toms) Jones; his siblings Nicole (Christopher), Sydney and Isaac; his nieces Ruby Lynn and Jasmine Jae and soon-to-be nephew Grafton James; his grandmother Virginia Hackmann (Hattan); his best friend Dylan Weier; his numerous aunts and uncles; his numerous cousins, extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Annie Will Jones (Cook), grandfather James Toms, uncle Todd Toms and cousin Jermon Brown.
