Patricia (Patti) Castell was my cousin on my mother’s side of the family. I remember around 1990 I was racing bicycles and had a race in San Diego. Patricia was always so gracious and kind. She gave me her bedroom so I could get a good nights sleep before my race. She was a very good horticulturist. Excellent with plants. I guess you could say she had a green thumb. I found out later that when she moved back to Decatur she became a teacher’s aide in Special Education. That was the kind of person Patti was. She really cared about people. I retired from teaching in June of 2021, and decided to go visit Patti in Decatur. We had a very nice visit for a few days. She opened her home to me and we shared family stories. I’m so glad I made the effort to go visit her. My plan was to go back again this May or June, but God decided to take her before I could see her again. I will miss you my dear cousin Patti. Please know that you were loved. Dear God, hold her in your arms and give her a hug from me. Rest In Peace my dear cousin and friend.
