Obituary of Laura Jean Motton

Laura Jean Motton, age 76, passed away at home in the early morning hours of July 27, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Laura Jean was born December 20, 1945 to Edward and Bessie Evans in St. Louis Missouri. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and went on to pursue a successful career with the US Federal Government. She retired in 1995. In her young adulthood years, Laura enjoyed playing softball. Laura loved cats, and had a few ( Rufus, Lily and Ebony) in her adult life that she was very fond of. Laura also enjoyed visiting the casinos, and was often quite lucky! She was an excellent cook and baker. Her recipes are legendary among family and friends. Laura is survived by her son, Jesse R. Motton and wife Kim; her siblings Edward Evans, Charlotte ( Lorenzo) Haulcey, Janetta Jones, Annetta Evans, Marietta Jones, and Michael (Kathy) Evans. She is also survived by her grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Carl Harris and sister Fran Evans-Birdine. Laura Jean was loved by so many. Her impact on their lives is immeasurable. She will be truly missed , and stay forever in our hearts. This is not goodbye, rather “UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN”
