Karen "Kiki" Sue Barrett
Born April 8, 1954
Died November 8, 2022
Born in Iowa, Karen grew up with several siblings- John, Midge, Vern, Patsy, Selita, Betsy, Jerry, and Kris.
She moved to Chicago from Iowa, and began a lifetime of moving around, living in Iowa, Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia, but if you know Karen, you know she loved living in warmer climates and enjoyed living in the south.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents Vonley Hall and Margaret Rahn, her sisters Midge and Betsy, and her brother Jerry, as well as her loving husband of thirty eight years, Barry Barrett.
Karen is a mother and grandmother to three children, Douglas (wife Amber and his three stepchildren), Simon (wife Amelia and their four children), and Sarah (husband Brenden and their four children), and stepmom to Lisa (and her son).
Karen was an active member of her church community, loved to play bingo with her dear friend Nancy, was a big Neil Diamond fan (and loved to talk about the concert her husband Barry took her to), enjoyed collecting rocking horses, and completed crossstitch as a hobby. She doted on her grandkids and made a point to fight cancer as long as she could to meet her newest grandchild born in September 2022. There was nothing she enjoyed more then having all of her kids together and she looked forward to being able to show off her children and grandchildren.
She bravely fought thyroid, pancreatic, and liver cancers, and her strength and courage was inspirational to all who know her.
She is deeply loved, missed, and grieved for, by many.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine."
