Obituary of Sondra Kay Walker

Sondra Kay Walker of Swansea, IL traveled home for Thanksgiving on Thursday November 24, 2022 joining her Heavenly Father and her parents, Florence & Oda Walker. She also joins her siblings, Bobby Jack Walker, Oda Walker, Jr., Mildred Sebo, Lorraine Panzau & Virginia Regaldo. Sondra (Sonny) Walker was born in Lorain Ohio and spent her childhood growing up and attending school in Centralia and Flora, Illinois as her father traveled the world as a buyer for Valley Steel. She lived most of her adult life in the Cleveland, OH area working in administration for several years with US Steel prior to joining Ernst & Young as a Sr. Administrative Assistant, finishing her career in 2016 and retiring in Swansea to be near a niece, Kathy Ritchie and husband Joe and nephews Chris Panzau and wife Diane and Richard “Dick” Panzau who all survive her in Swansea. She was preceded in death by her mother & father, all of her siblings and their spouses, three nieces Dawn Marie Walker, Deborah Walker and Linda Sebo and a nephew Greg Sebo. Left behind until all are called home to join her are nieces Stacy Chamblin, Jan Walker, Millie Walker and Melody Sebo also nephews Bobby Walker Jr, Scott Walker, Mark Walker, Jeff Walker and Todd Nichols, many great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces & nephews. One of the greatest joys of Sonny’s life was her association with Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village, Ohio. She served in many capacities and developed many lifelong friendships. Perhaps her greatest joy was being appointed to become one of the first women Deacons at Bay Presbyterian Church, a responsibility she accepted with God’s blessing and guidance. Sonny’s family in Swansea wants to thank her two closest friends from Bay Presbyterian Church who have visited her many times and been a great comfort to her during her 5 ½ years battling cancer, Amber Catalani & Lesli Bryan as were her next door neighbors, Ken & Jan Hebel. Sonny has requested that there be no Visitation nor Memorial Service and that she be cremated here in Swansea.
