Obituary of Brandon R. Murchison

On Saturday, November26, 2022, Brandon Raynell Murchison, beloved son, brother and nephew, passed away at the age of 41. Brandon was born December 14, 1980 to his loving mother, Michele Murchison Graham, and devoted father, Wardell Thacker Jr. Brandon started his education at Kennard Elementary School. In the 3rd grade he was selected to be in the gifted program. Brandon advanced to the Classical Junior Academy and then to Gateway High School. He transferred his senior year to Sumner High School, his Mom's alma mater. At Sumner, he enrolled in the work-study program and was a student intern at St. Louis City Hall Comptroller/Payroll Dept. He enjoyed working with the people there and learned a lot from the experience. After high school, Brandon enrolled in Job Corp, where he acquired additional skills. He then joined Ameri Corp, a national service organization based in St. Louis. Their goal was to help and support the St. Louis community. Brandon was well liked and met many new friends. Anyone who knew Brandon was touched by his kindness ,easy-going personality, and his big smile and deep chuckle. He shared a special bond with his mother, who he lovingly called "Shell", and was a wonderful big brother to his sister, Briana. Back in 2009, at the age of 28, Brandon suffered a fall that caused brain injury and brain surgery was required. With help and determination, Brandon was able to work through his physical challenges and live a fulfilled life, surrounded every day by the love of his mother and sister. He also spent time with his Grandfather Otis, who he called "O", They were good companions and loved to watch TV, especially Sports and video games. Brandon also made sure he called his Grandmother Wilma every Sunday, They both looked forward to the call and enjoyed their talks. Brandon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Otis and Cora Murchison Jr., and his paternal grandparents, Wardell and Wilma Thacker Sr. He was a bright light in their lives and they always loved spending time with him. Brandon is survived by his mother, Michele Murchison Graham; sister, Briana Simmons; father, Wardell Thacker Jr (Betty); step-brothers, TaMir Caldwell and Kareem Wright; uncle, Joseph N. Murchison Sr.; aunt, Carolyn "Annie" Alcorn (Robert); and aunt Angela Thacker - and a host of loving relatives, cousins and friends.
