Obituary of Sydney Nicole Tovar

Please share a memory of Sydney to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with a heavy heart we share the untimely passing of our beloved Sydney Nicole Tovar, she was 28. Sydney was born in Lompoc, CA. on May 26th, 1994 to Diane Chronister of Springfield, IL. and Gerardo Tovar of Lompoc, CA., where she was lovingly welcomed by her brother Robert Wood of Bloomington, IL. She met our world with bright, eager eyes. Sydney grew up independent, curious, fearless, free spirited and unapologetically unfiltered. She was undoubtedly beautiful and a lover of kitties and music all of her life. Like her mom, she enjoyed reading and enriching her mind. Always a silly kid at heart, she was also a huge fan of Sponge Bob, sandwiches, the ocean and most of all the City of St. Louis, MO. and its hockey team, the Blues. Team gear made up most of her wardrobe in addition to her snarky tees and thrifted vintage clothes she couldn't live without. Little things brought her so much joy and the best smiles. Most of her life, her heart was torn between the west coast and midwest because of lifelong friendships forged there. We can all agree, Sydney's personality was magnetic, her laughter infectious and she had an incredible gift of bringing people together. Sydney loved her chosen friend family and support system more than anything (except The Blues). Thank you to all who cared for her. It was your mindless banter and shared dark humor that kept her going. To Sydney, unconditional love meant freedom and she expressed it as she wanted to receive it. She was nostalgic for that feeling and wanted to reside within its walls of acceptance, trust, comfort and security like when she entered this world. Free to live and make mistakes that wouldn't define her, that she could learn from, teach us about and build upon because you only live once. She made the best of her life with us during her brief time. Our hearts are broken, but we rejoice she is at peace, blissful and free where all of her worlds meet. Sydney left us quietly on Sunday, February 12th, 2023 in her adopted home city of St. Louis, MO. with her loved ones by her side. She is survived by her parents, brother, chosen friend family and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins across the US as well as her kitties Willow and Gus, all who adored her and will miss her deeply. Memorial services are pending both in St. Louis, MO. and in Lompoc, CA. A GoFundMe has been set up by the family to aid with Sydney's end of life costs.
