Obituary of Vivan Cunningham

Please share a memory of Vivan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vivian J. Cunningham, was born June 15, 1952 to the union of Robert Jones Jr., and Theora Jones, both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her sisters; Violent Moore, and Beverly Jackson. Vivian was educated through the Saint Louis Public School district, where she attended Divoll Elementary and graduated from Vashon High School. Vivian confessed her belief in and love of Christ at an early age. Veon as she was affectionately called, absolutely loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was well pleased with the branches of her family tree. Veon was the epitome of love. She never met a stranger and she lived life on purpose. A few of Veon’s favorite pastimes was cooking (for her family and friends), listening to music and playing cards. She was an avid bid whist and spades player. She and her big brother would “run the table.” Veon was a proud and steadfast member of the Mount Herald Missionary Baptist Church. She frequently attended in person and online services until her health no longer permitted her to. Veon was small in stature yet mighty in wit, love and knowledge. She was blessed to celebrate 70 years of life and she was a blessing to those connected to her. Her legacy of love and sacrifices is evident through all of her children. She exemplified great character and persevered through everything life threw her way. On March 18th, 2023 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Vivian and the Lord shared a wonderful exchange. Her strong will submitted to God’s ultimate will and a decision was made. Words aren’t great enough to describe the person she was and the impact she had on everyone in her environment. She leaves to cherish in her memory, celebrate her life and live out her legacy; her children, Felica Cunningham-Jones, Nedra Cunningham (Jerrell), Rodney Welch Sr., and Shemia Reese; brothers, Ted Foster and Robert Jones (Betty); lifelong best friends Terry Walker and Kathryn (Kathy) Williams; grandchildren, Tiffany Gill (Adam), Marchell Cunningham, Khristopher Freeman, Roneica Freeman, Jerrell Cole Jr., Rodney Welch Jr., DeSean Reese, RaShad Welch, Carmenlita Welch, Jalin Reese, Devon Reese Jr. and Savannah Reese; along with her great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Though Veon’s physical presence will be missed, her love will forever live in our hearts.
