Obituary of Lubertha Preston
Please share a memory of Lubertha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lubertha Haggard Preston was born on March 15, 1941, in Caruth, Missouri, to Annie Mae Lewis. Her family and friends called her Bertha. She was the youngest of twelve siblings. Her father, mother, siblings, a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Louis Thomas, Grandson Carltrell, and two great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Donnell Jr. preceded her in death. She departed this life on Saturday evening, May 16, 2020 at home.
Bertha accepted Christ at a young age and had a strong faith and love for God. She was educated in the St. Louis Public School System and was a cook at State Hospital in her younger years. She taught her children how to trust and depend on God. She always led them to a scripture in the Bible that fit the situation.
Bertha was free hearted and very generous to all she encountered. She had a way of uplifting your spirit when you were down with her beautiful smile, laughter and funny sense of humor. She loved music and she loved to sing. Her favorite song was “Your Face Will Be the First Face I Want to See by Candi Staton.” She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: four daughters, Carmeline, Michelle, Olivia and Theresa; two sons, Tony and Carlos; one wonderful son-in-law, Michael, nineteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
