John Henry Brooks was born September 24, 1940 to Mattie Evans and Barge Brooks in Columbus, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Evans and Barge Brooks; brother, Charlie Stewart; children, Allen Brooks, Brian Keith Brooks, Jackie Lamont Brooks, and Tyrell Brooks.
John was educated in the state of Mississippi. As time moved, they relocated to the Midwest. He worked various jobs to provide for those he loved, He worked for years in the restaurant industry, Avis Car Rental, Safelite, and he was also an over the road truck driver for many years as well.
John was always about family He would just pull up on you with a Miller tall can and sit with you for hours just to talk and laugh. He loved spending quality time with this MO family, hanging out on the Eastside with his sister Marcella, going to Classic Car shows, listening to Jackie Wilson and Al Green’s music, and watching military fighter and bomber jet documentaries.
John Henry Brooks, Sr. was a walking book of knowledge. He'd give you an entire lecture on any and all subjects. When having the pleasure of sitting with him, you always gained some type of wisdom and encouragement.
On December 16, 2022, God in HIS infinite wisdom decided it was time for John Henry Brooks to return home to be with him.
Dad, your wings were prepared for your departure, but our hearts just weren’t ready for you to leave.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Darlene Brooks-Rollin, John Henry Brooks Jr. (Khandice), Joshua Brooks (Ajia), Justin Brooks, Dante’ Brooks, and Charlene Cunningham; siblings, Mary Brooks, Booker T. Brooks (Juanita), Bertha Callahan (Robert), Marcella Vaughn, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others who loved him dearly.
We will ALWAYS love and miss you dearly....Darlene, John Jr, Brother, Sisters, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many others .
