Obituary of Liston Ward Jr.
Please share a memory of Liston to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mae Bolden always wanted a child. Being her sister, I was fifteen years
her junior, she treated me as her child, but she still wished for a child of
her own. On November 8, 1964, Mae got her wish and gave birth to a
baby Liston Ward, Jr. They were so happy for the birth of their only child
Liston Ward, Jr. Oh what a handsome little baby boy was he.
Oh my, how my sister Mae and Liston Sr., enjoyed their baby boy who
would grow into a gentle giant of over 6’4” ft tall, strong and loving.
Liston “Lis” would use his powerful body to excel in sports such as:
baseball, basketball and football, while attending Mercy High School, U.
City and became a proud alumni of Ladue High School class of ‘83. Our
family always took pride and joined in celebrated his accomplishment
with him.
Little did Liston know that his mother, Mae, would end her Earthly
journey just as he was set to begin his high school journey.
Liston, would often times be exhausted from practicing his sports,
however he was never too tired to participate on the debate team.
Liston enjoyed going ‘deep’ with what he called “the Liston Laws!”
Lis accepted his savior the lord Jesus Christ at an early age and was
baptized at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, he also attended
worship services at West Central Church of God In Christ.
Liston, loved the outdoors which made his job with the city of St. Louis
Parks and Recreation the perfect fit. He also loved animals especially
dogs.
Now the final curtain has dropped and we all must say, “Job well done
Lis”.
Liston’s memory will be a benediction to: his aunts ~ Phyllis
Washington and Flossie Spence of Chicago, Illinois; cousins ~ Lance
and Fletcher Smith, of Springfield, Illinois; uncle ~ Norris Gray
(Lillian); uncle ~ Ra Khem Thoth; and a host of family and friends.
