Scott was the eldest child in our family of five children. He was kind and gentle, highly intelligent, a good listener, and creative and artistic. He was a good leader who combined an ethic of caring for the needs of others, balanced by the ability to get things done. At the age of 8, he was the navigator as our Mom drove the four existing children from Pittsburgh to Harlingen, Texas. Our Dad had returned from his second tour of duty in South Korea, and had to report for duty in Texas before the school year was out. Mom stayed in Pennsylvania with the children until school ended and off we went. We moved a lot during Dad’s career and Scott was always put in charge of making sure the children, all five of us by 1962 were where we needed to be. He was my badminton partner in our after dinner family badminton matches in Germany when we lived there as children. He was a good listener and an avid reader. He was a brilliant Microbiologist, lab technician, and tireless advocate for the homeless. He was a gifted writer and painter. Introspective and intellectual, caring and kind—that was my big brother Scott. May eternal rest be granted unto him. Love, Jean
